THE CUSTOMER

One of the largest suppliers of fashion jewellery and accessories in the world needed a retail logistics solution. This fashion retail company provides product presentation concepts and display systems complete with fashion jewellery and accessories to retailers worldwide.

The company established itself over 30 years ago and now operates in 21 countries. It turns small retail floor areas into significant upselling opportunities for its customers.

THE CHALLENGE

Our customer tasked us with receiving and storing a large shipment of various flat-packed fashion jewellery and accessory point-of-sale display stands from China. They also tasked us with delivering and assembling the stands configured as required for each store location. This service would be replicated to 300 end-customer store locations across the UK.

Retail Logistics - Supermarket Displays

THE SOLUTION

Utilising AMCO’s 110,000 sq. ft bonded warehouse in Worcestershire, AMCO received delivery of 566 point-of-sale display stands – four 40ft container ships worth!

Prior to display delivery at AMCO Park, AMCO formulated a UK-wide distribution plan based on the pre-determined display configurations required at each store location. The end customer received a detailed plan comprising delivery dates and times, in addition to the type of display configuration for each store location.

Once the goods were received and unloaded into AMCO Park’s docking area, consignment details were checked and digitally logged into AMCO’s Warehouse Management System before being physically stored in a designated storage location, ready for nationwide dispatch.

Leveraging specialist route planning software, AMCO successfully rolled out 19 trips across the UK, from Hereford in Herefordshire to Aberdeen in Scotland, comprising 153 deliveries in total. Multiple deliveries were strategically planned for each trip over a 3-week period.

The final phase of the operation saw AMCO staff assemble and furnish the displays as instructed, with the specified jewellery and accessories at each end-customer store location – 300 displays comprised of 566 stands in total.

THE RESULT

AMCO successfully executed the logistics and assembly of 566 point-of-sale display stands across 300 UK store locations. Utilising its 110,000 sq. ft warehousing facility and UK transport fleet, AMCO conducted 19 trips covering the breadth of the UK, efficiently delivering and assembling 300 displays.

Optimised route planning not only enhanced operational efficiency but also reduced CO2 emissions, underscoring AMCO’s competitive edge in sustainability. This meticulous operation resulted in seamless nationwide distribution for its customer and enhanced retail floor areas for the end-customer.
