You may be importing or exporting for the first time and this may be the first time your business is exposed to customs requirements, Duty and VAT, or you maybe be a Trader with experience. As Agents, AMCO offers a comprehensive range of services for customs, transport and warehousing, including our own bonded facilities.
Post Brexit
Customs regulations changed at the end of the BREXIT Transition period on 31st December 2020 and some customers are struggling to meet the customs requirements and VAT procedures that come with the UK now trading outside the European Union. As an Agent, AMCO offer customs clearances for both European and non-European shipments.
INCOTERMS. DO YOU KNOW YOUR DAP FROM YOUR DDP OR YOUR EXW FROM YOUR FCA?
As a Freight Forwarder, the first question AMCO ask is: ‘What are your incoterms?’ Incoterms are the most important thing you need to understand post-Brexit.
Why is getting the correct Incoterm important?
Before Brexit, EU Traders were less aware of the importance of Incoterms. The main question was who pays for the freight costs.
Brexit has made it a serious concern as Traders need to determine who will arrange the Export/Import declaration and accept Import taxes. Complicated further by legal issues. i.e. businesses must have a legal entity or be VAT registered in the appropriate countries to undertake the customs process.
There have been significant changes for UK companies in world trade, in terms of growth and also uncertainty in trading conditions. In order to negate risk, the importance of using the 2020 lncoterms correctly is more important than ever.
Unsure? Need help and advice?
AMCO are experts in advising and helping Traders with Incoterms and everything else that Brexit means for EU Importers and Exporters.
