THE CUSTOMER
A UK-based multinational automotive company specialising in designing, manufacturing, and selling luxury vehicles.
Known for its dedication to innovation and exceptional craftsmanship, the company emphasises sustainable mobility and advances in cutting-edge automotive technology.
THE CHALLENGE
AMCO was tasked with transporting 115 pallets of time-critical automotive engine blocks from Germany to the UK within 48 hours to avoid significant production downtime.
THE SOLUTION
AMCO successfully met the challenge by employing a mix of European road freight, multiple airfreight routes, final-leg UK road freight, and pre-arranged customs clearance. Within the required timeframe, AMCO transported the 115 pallets of cargo from Meschede, Germany, to the West Midlands, UK.
The operation began with a two-part approach: AMCO collected the pallets by road in split loads, with AMCO transporting 69 pallets to Paderborn Airport, 26 miles away, and sending the remaining 46 pallets to Ostend-Bruges Airport in the Netherlands, 264 miles away.
AMCO processed the necessary customs paperwork in advance and coordinated five flights: three from Paderborn to Liverpool and two from Ostend-Bruges to Birmingham.
This well-planned and executed operation demonstrates AMCO’s expertise in managing complex, multi-modal logistics under stringent timelines.
THE RESULT
AMCO’s seamless delivery enabled the major automotive OEM to avoid significant production line downtime and maintain its manufacturing targets.
The timely delivery reinforced AMCO’s reputation as a reliable, efficient supply chain partner capable of handling urgent, large-scale logistics for critical operations.
